Bielat-Starwalt Family Scholarship
Awards from the Bielat Family Scholarship are according to financial need and/or the quality of responses on the application. Students will be able to use drawings, sentences, short paragraphs, or essays according to their grade level and academic skills to best answer Bielat Family Scholarship questions.
Before students begin the application process, parents should explain to their children about Ignatius (Joe) Bielat and his sister Lucille Bielat. They were two of the most faith-filled, charitable, family-oriented, and hardest working individuals who came from a large family of 12 siblings. Their parents were Polish immigrants.
Ignatius and Lucille lived every day of their lives devoutly practicing their Catholic Faith. Work ethic, honesty, respect, and helping family and religious affiliations were their strongholds.
Application Process:
Interested students should forward a completed application packet to the NCCF, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, in Dunkirk, NY 14048.
Applications must be received by April 1st.
Students must meet both eligibility requirements.
Students must include a letter of reference from a representative of their church, faith or community service organization and a resume.
Eligibility:
Graduating seniors from Dunkirk High School.
Students planning to attend a 2 year or 4-year Catholic college/university.
Criteria:
Participation in volunteer activities related to their church, faith, or community.
Those of Polish descent will have preference, but all others will be considered.
