Roger Testrake Memorial Scholarship Award
The goal of the Roger Testrake Memorial Scholarship Award is to promote excellence and to provide an opportunity for the children of veterans an opportunity to reach their highest potential.
Application Process
Student must submit application to include a 100-300 word personal essay to his/her Guidance Department. The essay should address "Why I should receive the Roger Testrake Memorial Scholarship Award."
Veterans' service will be prioritized with KIA ranking highest, followed by (in descending order) POW/MIA; DAV; Active Duty; and Prior Service. Applicants must include a copy of the veteran's DD214 form (discharge papers).
Students awarded the scholarship must submit proof of enrollment or proof that he/she has completed basic training.
If in any one year there is no eligible applicant, the scholarship may be renewable to previous years' recipients, providing that the candidate is showing sufficient academic progress.
Criteria
Student must reside within the Town of Ripley.
Student must be related (natural or step) to a veteran (parent, grandparent, sibling or aunt or uncle) or must be accepted into the service as early entry.
Student must be accepted at a technical or trade school, or college (or must be accepted into the service as early entry).
Student must demonstrate leadership potential.
Student must have a history of community service.
Deadline to submit applications to the Guidance Department is April 1st.
