The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) welcomes a new fund, the Fonda Sanford Kawski Scholarship. Raised in Missouri, donor Fonda Sanford Kawski and her husband currently reside in Fredonia.
“I read a book 20 years ago, “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. It made me think about how I am to serve. That is what is important to me, and it brings me joy,” says Fonda Sanford Kawski as she talks about creating her fund with the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. She explains, “I am dedicated to be of service and help to others.”
The Fonda Sanford Kawski Scholarship Fund encourages students from the Central Christian Academy, Dunkirk High School, and Fredonia High School to consider how they can find purpose in their future endeavors. One of the scholarship’s main requirement is that students must be planning a career working with the elderly or people in need of hands-on care. Students pursuing a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN), or other paraprofessional certifications are eligible to apply.
The Selection Committee will consider three criteria when reviewing applications: students must possess a kind and caring nature, have a financial need (strongly considered), and participate in formal or informal volunteer activities (for example, school, church, club, community, and home).
The application is available on our website at www.nccfoundation.org/kawski-scholarship, or by contacting Victoria Howell, the NCCF Scholarship Coordinator at vhowell@nccfoundation.org or 716-366-4892.
The NCCF, incorporated in 1986, is a tax-exempt charitable organization. Since its establishment, the NCCF has distributed more than $16 million in the community through its various grant programs. It is an organization inherently committed to enriching the northern Chautauqua community and encouraging local philanthropy.
