The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation along with planning partners Chautauqua Opportunities, United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, and the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce a new community initiative for northern Chautauqua County. “On the table” is a week-long conversation beginning April 29th that will provide an opportunity for friends, neighbors, coworkers, and others to gather around a table and break bread together. Community members can share experiences, ideas, and thoughts about community needs and opportunities. Voices from all walks of life will be heard while discussing who we are as a community, where we are going, and what we can do together to get there.
Everyone is invited to participate during the week of April 29th. Community members, businesses, churches, and other nonprofits can participate by either attending a public table, sharing this information with others, or by hosting a table.
Hosts play a vital role in bringing people together, and the partners will provide all the information, training, and resources needed, which means hosting will be simple and fun! Hosts pick their preferred day and time and whether they would like to host a private or public table conversation. All hosts should sign up at www.nccfoundation.org/onthetable where they will be provided a toolkit that includes sample discussion questions as well as other helpful resources. Hosts may also register by calling 716-366-4892.
Following the conversation, hosts will encourage guests to share thoughts, actions, and ideas generated by the dialogue via a survey. The survey will ask about items such as participants’ “On the table” experiences, their opinions on community issues and the topics their group discussed. The results of the data will be shared publicly and be accessible to the community to help us better understand our needs and opportunities.
